Mercedes SLS 3D movie – Isle Of Man

by Neill on August 10, 2010

I‘ve had an idea in my head for more than 2 years now about shooting a car video on The Isle Of Man, so when I heard about the latest Mercedes SLS Fast and Famous movie, I was really excited.

There’s been a buzz going around the internet about the next video in a series of virals and short movies about the Mercedes SLS being produced and bit by bit, details are emerging of how it was done, where and when we can see it. Shot on the Isle Of Man in 3D using a crack crew of technicians and directed by Jeremy Hart, the Mercedes is driven by F1 driver and BBC pundit David Coulthard.

A huge crew of over 70 people included such specialists as Stedicam operator Felix Forrest, helicopter cameras, a specialist camera car with russian arm and a second Mercedes SLS with cameras mounted to it, driven by rally driver Robbie Head. An article online at Metro’s website describes the whole shoot taking just six hours, as that was all the time they could get to close the road on the mountain of the Isle Of Man.

Apparently, the video debuts on Sky TV during the live coverage of Liverpool V Arsenal, but I’m sure the rest of the world will be able to see it in short order soon afterwards. We’re trying to get more info about the whole ideda and the concept behind it, but meanwhile, here’s one of the behind tghe scenes virals already out there.

I thought the first Jay Leno movie in LA was impressive, but this one, with James Bond / Bourne Identity standards of production, it’s going to be something special…
