The Ice Driver 5D Movie

by Neill on June 24, 2009

icedriver1Over on my photography blog, I wrote earlier this year about shooting video with the new Canon 5D Mk2 in Sweden. At the time, the camera did not have the firmware it has today, so there was no control over aperture etc. I’ll be writing about my experiences with the 5D and other equipment used later this month, but meanwhile, if you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the movie.

How It Was Done

I’ll go into greater detail about how it was done, what worked and what didn’t a little later, but breifly, equipment used was:

    Canon 5D Mk2
    Vertical grip with additional battery
    14mm EF wide angle
    Manfrotto Variable Friction Arms
    Suction mounts
    Arri Grip Heads
Manfrotto 501 Video head with leveling cup
Lee HD and ND Grads with Lee lens hood

The car was driven by Ice Driver chief instructor Andy McKenna, more about him later…
